EGE University Occupational Health and Safety Coordinatorship is a unit established to provide/ensure minimum precautions, practices, and regulations in line with a certain standard in terms of occupational health and safety in order to ameliorate all units within Ege University, attachments and employees who share the common environment, interns, and people who fall within the university's responsibility for the purpose of providing services. The legal basis of the Occupational Health and Safety Coordinatorship is the Law No. 6331 on Occupational Health and Safety, which entered into force on 30.12.2012. With this law, it is aimed to prevent dangers arising from work, environment and social activities, to provide a healthy and safe living and working environment, and thus to minimize harmful events that may affect those who share the environment.
In accordance with this law, which also includes Public Institutions and Organizations, the first studies at our university started in the Employee Health and Safety Unit (ÇASAGÜB) at Ege University Hospital in 2012. In 2013, the Occupational Health and Safety Services Unit Founding Committee, which was established under the Health, Culture and Sports Department, was assigned to carry out relevant studies in all units of the university. The unit, which was named “EGE OHS Coordinatorship” on March 5, 2015, was directly connected to the Rectorate on February 2, 2017 and continues its activities under the Rectorate of EU.
EGE OHS Coordinatorship consists of the Coordinator, 2 assistant coordinators, 1 full-time workplace doctor, 3 occupational safety specialists and 1 secretary. OHS activities of EGE OHS Coordinatorship can be specified as Board trainings in units, employee trainings, periodic examinations of employees, risk analyzes of units, vaccination of students of health-related academic units as specified by the relevant ministry, pre-internship OHS trainings, OHS organizations, monitoring, and documentation processes.
EGE OHS Coordinatorship continues its work for a more peaceful Ege University and happier stakeholders with decisively, continuously, and high degree of satisfaction.
